Hello,
I am new to the forum and had a few questions. I have been around stock car racing all my wife and my now 5yr. old son is showing interest in go karts. I am in Edwardsburg not far from MRP. What kind of money am I looking at for a beginner kart for him to get started in? What kind of money on a weekly basis are we looking at to run these events? Do you guys have any used karts for kids this age at your shop? Like I said, I'm new to the whole karting thing but as a kid I always wanted to try. From what I have read and what little I know from some friends that kart race, it seems it would be more enjoyable and perhaps a little less time consuming and burdensome on the wallet than stock car racing...like anything though I'm sure it's what you make of it. Thanks in advance for the help. -Ray |

Welcome to karting! 5 years old is the perfect starting point and we specialize in kid kart schools and training. The good news is that getting started is rather easy and we can work within most budgets. We have 6 used kid karts in stock now - as well as many available for rent. You can do a school, rent and see if your son enjoys the experience before investing in a new kart. Kid kart rentals are around $125 for a day I believe. Considering you have been aroudn stock cars, chances are you may know a few people already involved racing themselves or with their kids. Your racing background will be a definite plus - as you already know, racing is what you make of it - it is easy to spend a lot.... monetarily or time - but the family aspect is something that is certainly priceless as you will see on your first visit! Please give us a call at the shop. Steve Miller can be reached at 269-756-9133 to let you knwo deals on used or new kid kart packages, also - feel free to contact Rob Huffmaster, the track manager (same number until track opens). We will be updating our website this week - www.michianaracewaypark.com with current pricing, but with the relative low cost of kid karts, you essentially have entry, pit passes, food, racing fuel and damage. Tires will last all year! We recommend investing in schooling and practice days. That will go a very long way. Looking forward to seeing you!
