MICHIANA RACING BULLETIN - June 24, 2008

Attention Michiana Racers!

Please visit our MRP Forums for the latest updates. They can be seen at: www.mrpmotorsport.com/community

If you haven't registered yet, go ahead and do so, it only takes a minute!

Here is a summary of the Latest News (posted under the "Racing at MRP/RGR" section).

JULY 20 RACE POSTPONED:
The July 20 race has been postponed. Many of our Rotax drivers will make the trip to USA Raceway in Northern Wisconsin for a practice day and test race in advance of the Rotax Grand Nationals. For many this will be their Rotax Grand National as not all will qualify and not all will be wanting to take the break out of the school year for their drivers for the September event. A converted attempt will be made to find a suitable date in the fall as a make up race date.

Remember JULY 5 & 6 DOUBLE RACE WEEKEND:
Our July 5th race will be run backwards in the TRACK "C" configuration. The gates will open at 8:30 AM but not before. The practice day will start at 11:00 AM and we will run our standard race format, only backwards. Drivers will scale prior to going on to the track for their time trials and race and will be required to have an extra 5lbs of weight above their standard post race weigh in. This avoids confusion when trying to take drivers on the track and to bring drivers off the track.

The TRACK "C" layout map can be found HERE: http://www.mrpmotorsport.com/images/...acklayouts.pdf

EVENING FESTIVITIES: The evening will feature our mid season's banquet with a few prizes and awards (specials) for the attendees. Our kid kart practice will start at the conclusion of the event which is around 5 PM and they will run their race after a brief spectator race so the kid kart drivers and families will not need to be at the track all day. Kid Kart racing is FREE for MRP members courtesy of Gurley Leep Automotive Group.

CAMPING: Overnight camping previously has been offered for free. Electrical hook ups (six total) are available for a modest fee. Please call 574-288-4922 to reserve.

SUNDAY RACE - JULY 6: The Sunday race will change course just a bit. Since this is designed to be a fun weekend and one filled with change, I'd like to go back to the old days when we did not have the new Monza turn. It will give racers a feel of the chicane at the bottom of turn 11 that was the previous layout for those who have never run the old course. This course can be seen HERE: http://www.mrpmotorsport.com/images/...ETROtrackC.pdf

PRACTICE: Practice on Friday will be backwards for the entire day up until 5 PM. Between 5 PM and 7PM we will run the Sunday layout for everyone to get a feel of the track. Additional layers of safety bags have been ordered to assist in the new danger zones as we change the track layout for the weekend.

Please be sure to bring friends and new interested racers to help them get started in racing now. Information on this subject can be found at www.startracingnow.com .

FREE KID KART PRACTICE LOCATION CHANGED: Free kid kart practice is now available every Saturday at Rolling Green Raceway for all MRP members. Call Steve at 269-756-9133 to arrange signing of the release forms and for a key to the gate.

STEP 1 KART CLASS OPEN FOR JULY 5 & 6 WEEKEND: We are happy to announce the STEP 1 Kart class will be open and on the schedule for all arrive & drive customers for each day on the weekend. The price is only $175 for BOTH days (no driver substitutes) or $100 for each day. this includes EVERYTHING you will need, including fuel, entry fee, tires, maintenance and safety gear. Call us to reserve your entry - 574-288-4922.

ROCK KART SPECIALS: For those of you that have family and friends that might want to sample the racing action - we will be holding our famous "Spectator Races" each day during the lunch break in our safe and fun 9HP ROCK KARTS. Contact us if you are interested in buying a race for a friend!

ROTAX MAX SPECIAL! Rent a RotaxMax kart package for the weekend for only $700!! This includes ONE set of new tires and 5 Gallons of mixed race-fuel. You will need your own tools but technical assistance will be available! Call NOW, limited seats available.

THANK YOU TO MIKE AND SAM LEE: MRP would also like to thank Mike and Sam Lee for coming such a long distance to assist in race day management. They help insure the integrity of our program that offers unbiased race officials who are not aligned with any family or political association that might offer favortism. One thing that I have learned, regardless of who our officials are the same problems occur when it comes to racing. I hope you won't miss this exciting weekend!!

ATTENTION ROTAX RACERS GOING TO USA RACEWAY: MRP is available for kart transport or kart pooling. Let us assist you in transport and paddock space to help save money on single kart towing expense. Contact Chris Lobaugh at 269-756-9133 if interested.

SEE YOU AT THE TRACK!

In follow up to the Saturday Kid Kart race program:
We intend to run kid kart practice around 5PM with their race shortly after that. This will avoid a lengthy day for kid kart drivers and parents, yet allow them to race and participate in the evening banquet.

The Sunday kid kart program will be normal times and schedule.

If you have any other questions regarding the weekend events, do not hesitate to email or call for clarification.

We reversed the published schedule with the backwards race for Saturday and the forwards race for Sunday. The Saturday race layout will take extra time for our staff to prepare which is best done the days ahead of the weekend rather than trying to prepare over Saturday night. Friday's schedule for practice is to focus on the backwards section of the weekend's racing.

Spectators mentioning the "hidden Gem" phrase at the West gate after 1 PM on Saturday and 12 PM on Sunday will receive free entry on the West Side in honor of Fox News 28 making Michiana Raceway Park the first of 50 hidden Gems to cover in the weeks ahead around Michiana. MRP customers and staff did a fantastic job in putting on a live show for Fox between 8 and 9 am on Tuesday.

Their interest was sparked out of one of our Travel ads for South West Michigan. That's a first! I am hopeful to find a link in the hours ahead for you to view off the web. The property looked really pretty with the contrasting green grass, yellow back boards and blue bags. Bright sunshine and cool weather really maked the whole park shine on TV.
