Cliff Notes:
Where can I buy New Cup seals, Pistons, and Orings for a 1997 Birel Shifter Cart? Long Story: Got my hands dirty today to figure out a leaking issue with a cart I am rebuilding this year. I was told the brakes were rebuilt... When I took all the stuff apart on the front I found that the P.O. really just took them apart and put all the old shit back in. The seals were all tamped and the pistons all had marks from where he pried them. Found out the leaks were from where the O-Rings were supposed to seal against the piston lip, and possible worn pistons?... I think the only way to fix it the right way are to order all new pistons, cup seals, and o-ring seals. Was just going to put new rubber in and take this thing to the kart track this weekend but I'm going to do it right and clean and rebuild the brakes. Everything is all gross and nasty so it all needs flushed... Pictures are worth 1000 words. front caliper ![]() can see an o-ring and the machined piston here ![]() pulled the piston and here what u see... liquid is pushing past the cup seals instead of pushing the cups/piston out ![]() had to dig a little to get the seal out ![]() the other side of the 1-1/4" seal ![]() had to pull the rear caliper in halves to get to both sides ![]() a picture of some seals and pistons... i am going to snag some new pistons since these ones are worn and have gouges on the lips. ![]() |
