New Tyres

Can anyone tell me why the chassis is faster with used tyres rather than with new tyres? The track is new and the surface is very smooth.

Alex,

Seems like you have too much grip in the kart. If you put new tires on and you go slower, the chassis setup is not right. You should always go faster with new tires. Beings that the track is new and has no rubber, and if you practice with used tires all the time you probably got a lot of grip dialed into the kart. Which is fine when your practcing. But when race day comes around, there is gonna be more rubber on the track, and you already have a lot of grip in the kart, then you put new tires on top of all that, you'll just bind the kart up with too much grip. Try taking some grip away from the kart and see what happens.
