My son races in the Junior SSX class at badger... have a few questions... need to get it straight.. very confused.. have different people telling me different things.. when the track gets really grippy.. hot and sticky.. badger switched club tire to the new YJL.. they are in between a YHC and a YDS
do I need the rear bumper bar loose ... to free up the kart.. my son complained of it being loose, But what we could tell was like a over correction.. coming off the corner everyone was tight.. we loosed the front cross bar and that seem to help a bit... but need to free up some more.. we are only about 51" on the rear.. we didn't have time to test going widder.. we are 2.5 spacers on the front.. we also have the third bearing loose with zip ties.. and have 1 seat strut on each side.. whould i loosen the seat struts also..we have his seat adjusted to BIrel Specs... his driving style is alot different then mine he likes to late apex and crack the back end around...and drive straight across the corner..
what I want to experiment with is a infared heat gun and get his tires temps as he comes off the track... now ? if he is tight would the back end be much hotter... his kart scales if I can remember corretly is about 57 rear and 43 front.. we have 1- 5 lb weight to play with and we have it high on the seat on the left rear side of the seat.. I wanted to lower the weight but my driver didn't want to take chance just before the feature.. would the infared gun at least tell me the mechanic what the kart is doing.. and if so what would be a key target for the tires do i want the back hotter .. front hotter.. enough rambling on and on.. thanks for any advise..

I'll try to get one of the tech's to respond.

I'd say that each driver has a different style and set of words to describe what is happening. That often comes as a result of parents forcing the kids to "give me some feedback" and with out training when the young people are forced to respond, they will give an answer. It may not be the correct understanding.

My best suggestion is a private test day with one of our driving coaches.
