what is the purpose of the pinhole in the master cylinderfiier cap? i bleed the brakes and they feel good but when you push the pedal down i get brake fluid oozing out of the hole. after several times pushing the pedal down i lose my brakes. i think it's sucking air back in the lines.
my other karts had solid plugs with no hole and i've never had a problem.
any advice?
BTW i broke my cap last night trying to tighten it too tight. should i replace it with a solid cap or get one with the pin hole? can i get a solid plug at a hardware store? what is the thread size?

I don't know of a pinhole in the top of a plug. The parts are in stock with the dealers. I can't say about the hardware store.

it looks like a perfectly centered hole like it was put there from the factory. i don't know why it would be there but i thought i remembered seeing another one like that before somewhere. i called steve at twin oaks this morning but he was busy so i figured i'd ask somebody on here abour it. still waiting to hear back from him. thanks.

Danny, As Garry mentioned there is no hole in the plug. Possibly you have a 'bad' plug or is this a used unit someone modified on their own? Let everyone know where you are located so a nearby Birel dealer can help you out.

i'm in western PA. i live 10 minutes from beaverun. as i said the hole looks too perfect to not be factory. i talked to steve at twin oaks on thursday and he said the ones he has there do not have holes and he sent one out on friday. i'll probably get it tomorrow. our first practice is march 25th so hopefully we make it out there to turn some laps. i'll let you know if the problem is solved. thanks, danny.

Thanks for the update. This is always a problem when making a purchase from a private indivdual. It sure sounds like a custom deal to me.( I'm referencing the different issues you have had with the kart) Based on all of the problems you have encountered, perhaps some of our viewers can better appreciate working with the dealer network that has been established through the MRP/Birel Group. Thank you all for your participation.
