does anybody have the widths or dimensions for the birel seats? i have a seat that i was told was a large but doesn't look that big. at the narrowest point along the lower rib area it measures 12" wide on the inside edge. i don't see any markings on it that gives a size.
this seat is about 1" too wide on each side for my son. he is 4'10" and 90lbs. it fits pretty good in the side area but too wide in the hip area. any help? i think he can get away with this seat but i might buy 1 size smaller.
thanks, danny.

Seat sizing varies by each company. The best thing to do is to measure the existing seat that you are comfortable with and then take a tape measure and tell us what you need.

garry, the seat mentioned is a birel seat. it fits him pretty good with thee padding installed so i think we'll use it. i don't think it is a large. it has a sticker on it that says "item number 7171454445". i'll try to look it up. thanks, danny.

I don't think I am communicating well. Just measure the distance at the narrow section. I can assure you that each seat may be different regardless of the label. It is fiber glass. They all vary. The easiest solultion is to take the measurement.

it is a clear fiberglass seat. it fits pretty good with the padding installed so we will use it. i had to wait until his rib protector came in to try it. we just got it the other day and it's going to be ok. i thought we would need a smaller seat. is there a difference in the mounting position between the large and medium seat? as i stated i was told this is a large but it seems to be too small for a large. the narrowest section is 12" across.
another question for you. i have a 40mm axle with freeline hubs. on my old onyx we could move the hub in on the axle as far as we needed. on the birel there is a red plastic "adapter" that goes on the end of the axle. if you slide the hub in then you cannot put this red piece on. the wheel doesn't seem to fit on the hub then. also, i thought WKA stated you needed some type of hub retention (circlip or spring clip) to keep the hub from coming off the end of the axle. there are two holes drilled in the end of the axle but i don't can't slide the hub on far enough to install this. hope this didn't confuse you.
at first i thought maybe i had a 50mm axle but its 40. just seems like the hole in the wheel is smaller than the axle. do i have the wrong wheels?
thanks, danny.
