i'm looking for a birel catalog.
i just bought a 2002 r30 and might need some stuff. i saw threads on the freeline wheels. how much do these cost? is it a wise investment for me? my son is 12 and is 4'10" and weighs 90lbs. he will be running at 305lbs. with a sean cook kt100. i've been told to run an HDC-5b 2 disk but have been told they are a pain to rebuild. i've also been told to run a tomar 2 disk for ease of rebuilding. which is better, more user friendly? we will run YHC 4.50 front and 6.00 rear.
my original reason for the post was to get a catalog or to find the best place to buy birel items. thanks, danny.
BTW, i was going to buy a newer margay but after reading all the info on the birel i think i just might stick with them. thanks again.

Danny,
I stil have an old catalog from 2004, and most of the items haven't changed that much, brakes, hweels, spindles, etc. Some other things have, such as caster adjustment features, and some spindles that were "stepped" are now straight, and use 17mm bearings. We're located in SW Ohio, and if we can be of services, let us know. (Website at end of message.)
I don't have tne slightest idea where you are located, so where to buy is difficult, That said, I'd opt for the TOMAR TD23-2 Clutch. The only thing going for the HDC5b is the smaller diameter, and if you factor in the tire size and the total inertia package, the difference in weight just is too small to be a large factor. Besides the weight is just not all that much more.
The recommendation for the TOMAR comes from the difference in technology it uses, Once you replace the three components, the friction disks (2) and the Rotor, (1) the thing is almost brand new, replace the springs and weights and it is. There are some subtile differences that sometimes escape the average usser, but the TOMAR will last longer, and offer better service, IMHO.

Just so you know the catalog with 2004 is the only one that I had printed for distribution. It is alphabatized for the US market. The onlymistake I made was putting the number 2004 on the front cover. It is the current and valad instrument for your needs.
