View Full Version : Weight Question
Just purchased a used Birel Yamaha Can, and looking forward to racing this year. Couple of questions. When adding weights to the frame tube behind the seat, is that tube 1 1/8" or 1 1/4" in diameter. Also, what size chain will I need (for a spare). Lastly, what size wheel and which tire will I need (to run in 12 to 15 year old yamaha can class). Thanks, Don

Weight goes on the seat. Placing weight on the diagonal tube that you refer to should be avoided at all costs. I've seen customers clamp the weight there and wind up with a tube that breaks or cracks due to the stress load. It should be 30mm tube. For the Jr. Can you would normally run 180mm rear width and 600 size tires. Where will you be racing? Often the facilities have a spec tire. In our case at MRP we will run a YHC tire.
Reference the chain, I don't know what chain you have, 219 pitch or 35. You might consult the seller to give you assistance and also to advise the model kart you purchased.
Thanks Garry. We will run both RGR and SBRP next year. Where can I get seat weights?

The plumbing houses have the 5 lb lead ingots and that is what has been used in the past. We also have polished steel weights that we use but they get expensive.Try the local plumbing supply houses first and if not found then give us a call.
