Brake Fluid

Greetings all, I have a simple question, which I have gotten several different responses to when I ask different folks, so I will inquire here. What is the recommended brake fuid for the Birel systems, we have a R30, is it Dot 4 or DOT 5, and I believe that these two are not compatible, and should never be mixed? And, should we be using a minimum temperature rating? Which comes in the karts when we pick them up, again there seems to be some conflicting info depending on who you ask. Also, we have not had a problem,yet, just desire to do the proper preventive maintenance.

Good question: Dot 3/dot 4. We use the Yamaha brand. Never dot 5.

if your system is made for DOT 3 then you can put in DOT 3 or DOT 4. if your system is DOT 4 then you can only use DOT 4. but dont put DOT 3 in a DOT 4 system. DOT 5 is sillicone based and should NEVER be used in a DOT 3 or 4 system only DOT 5 breaks.
