What set-up suggestions would you have for Road Racing the CM? I am 6'1 and weigh 198 lbs. I drove the chassis at Roebling Road this past weekend and had problems with mid corner and exit bind. Axle is at lowest position, Birel seat where recommended with exception of seat bottom, we have to run seat between the frame rails laterally per rule book WKA. Front hubs were on 5th ring out, rear tried from 54-55 with short hubs. We are going to scale the kart friday but wondered about any other suggestions.

visit www.andycoxracing.co.uk , click on our Birel section and on the pull down is the set up for the M ST series. Good luck Andy Cox

First thing to try is removing castor- the way the karts arrive is with .5 degree castor in. I have gone as far as 1.5 degre castor out-especially when you have long corners as in road racing. I would also try lowering the back of the kart (raising the axle), keeping in mind that you will probably have to stiffen the axle to get some side bite back. Did you try removing the side bar? Let me know if this helps.

GARY, THANKS FOR THE INFO. BY TAKING CASTOR OUT YOU MEAN STANDING THE KINGPINS UP RIGHT? THAT WAS NEXT ON MY LIST. I TRIED WITH THE SIDE BAR IN(TOO MUCH GRIP) AND OUT(BETTER!). I WILL TEST THIS AND GET BACK WITH YOU.

THANKS, BRENT

Thanks for all the suggestions on freeing up my CM32ST for Road Racing. I went out on test day with .5 degrees less castor, seat moved back(per birel website) and kart was totally different than before. Ran fastest laps for the day and that was with the stator going out on my CR. Scaled kart at 57.5% rear, 42.5% front with 10 lbs fuel. Kart had no push and was very well balanced. Thanks again for all of the help.

Thats the kind of news we like to hear. Win lose or draw, we like the feed back and of course all of the balance of the readers are thankful for your recap and such favorable results.

For those of you who did not attend the South West Regions Cup race this weekend in OK City. Ryan Finy took first in ICC on Saturday and Alex Speed first on Sunday. Both were on TM/Swedtec/Birel CM32 ST (2005 new style M chassis).
