AR 28 X-sm seat placement

I need to fit an extra small seat to our new AR28 chassis.

The seat strut attached to the engine side of the chassis has a bar welded which looks to make bending that strut not possible. It looks like the engine side seat strut is supposed to stay put and not be bent...is this the case?

Or should I bend the two seat struts in equal amounts?

There is 2 3/8" of space I need to make up between the struts and the seat.

Seat strut next to the motor stays fixed. I'll try to get one of the race team to answer the balance. They just returned from our big Austin dealer training program. Perhaps one of the other dealers can pitch in here.
