I just picked up a used Q30CX 060280 with a KT100. I'm 5'6" and weigh 190. What is this kart and is it suitable?

Thanks,
Allen

I assume the KT is a SSX and not a pipe set up. A hard tire would be preferred, as the Q30's are now getting old. You are on the borderline at the weight as to how well this chassis will work. The bigger question is the condition of the kart. If it is used up then the metal will not flex and respond to changes. It would be better suited for a lighter driver in the lower horsepower area. All you can do is try at this point.

Is there a spec hard tire required where you race?

What does the condition( bottom) of the kart tell you about how much use?

Thanks for the quick response Garry. I bought the kart from a friend who will take it back. The kart has sat for at least the last 4 years. The scratches under the kart are very minimal and it has a SRS motor.

We are still developing our rules for our senior class at our track, but we are planning on kt100 with pipes. Should I be looking for a 32 mm chassis?

If the drivers are new, I would avoid the pipes and urge an RLV SSX can. If you need used pipes we have a box full of them to sell off.

IN terms of the right kart: Yes, for Pipe either a 32 mm or a Blend of 30/32 often called a 31. Let us know how we can assist.

Where is the track?

We race at JRP in Tulsa. We are trying to start a series for dads.

In all do respect to the dads, my 25 years of race management tells me, they should start slow ( SSX) in order to get the basics down and to keep it fun. If you have one guy drive off from the field, then the remainder of the class will lose interest and the fun factor will go away.

In year two, they can consider moving up to pipe. Pipe is handful and the clutch expense picks up sharply.
That's my best suggestion.

Is this Ron Pattison's track?

Is this Ron Pattison's track?

Yes this is Ron's club and that's why Birel is a pretty popular kart here. My son just got a new B25.

Ron has tried to get a 4 stroke class started here. I would like to have one just to go drive around with my son.

The master cylinder needs to be rebuilt. It looks to be part # 10.1720.00, is there a rebuild kit available?
