Hello,

THANKYOU FOR READING, BUT PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INPUT!!!

I had never ridden or raced shifter karts, but i am a gear head/horsepower fanatic, I recently rolled into the karting craze and after alot of browsing purchased what i was told was a 2006 Birel CR31 with a 6 month stock class cr125cc for $2k, the homologation numbers are 040/02 and the kart reads CR32 v on the left bearing cassette.
Please Tell me anything you know about this chassis, as i am still a little clueless about karts, i am eager to learn and i have already found a lot of helpful information on this site and across the web.

Here are the parts that i know i need, but i am having ALOT of trouble acquiring them for decent prices.

-also the kart came with no front brake calipers but came with rotors, i found some CIK-FIA 152/FR/08 (10.6361.00) Calipers on eBay that i will attempt to use, BUT the spindles on the kart will not accept the direct mount of the calipers (previous owner may have changed them as he changed the pedals and a couple other things)
-spring loaded brake retention screws for CIK-FIA 152/FR/08 Calipers, will the 20.4722.06 do the job for me, i understand they are for the "B" type not "C"?
-dust cover for 10.6406.00
-back wheel hub nut flew off while riding (i cant find it, and i am weary to driving without it)(loc-tite safe?)
-either 10.7071.00 or 10.5244.00 double brake adjuster ( i will go with the more economically priced)

he gave me extra spindles, but 2 different types, it looks like the right side will accept the caliper but the left wont. when i change the spindles my steering will be all messed up correct?

Please help, any information that can help me weigh in on the situation will truly be appreciated.

I can get pictures of anything specific.

i originally bought to just tear through gears like a maniac in the streets, but i would enjoy racing it at local tracks near Miami, FL

Let me just say the first ride was jaw dropping, i was impressed when i saw how much power the 125cc puts out STOCK!... way quicker than the $150,000 CL63 AMG it sleeps next too :(

Frank

if a MRP personel can please let me know the exact parts i need and send me an invoice to llfgsll@gmail.com i will pay immediatley by paypal or credit card. thankyou very much for all your help.

here are more pics, i want to get birel graphics, but the prices i have encountered are obscenely steep in my opinion for mere stickers.

Frank,
Just for clarification your chassis is not a CR31 and is a few years older than 2006. This is not a problem but when it does come time to talk chassis set up you should refer to it as a CR32 V which is a chassis that was developed specifically for the Las Vegas kart track...hence the "V". It came out right after the CR32Z (2002) and is a bit narrower from spindle to spindle to make the front of the kart a bit more responsive.

As for your brake situation: the spindles that are on the kart are the correct ones to mount the "older" style front brakes...they are the cast aluminum calipers that go with the brake discs you have. The Z and V chassis came with the C style rear brake and the cast aluminum front brakes...this was standard at the time.

20.4467.06 is the code for the rear brake pad guide/bushing.
20.4237.00 is the code for the spring.
The bolt is just a standard M6x46 SHCS.

We have plenty of all of these items including the dust cover (you have the correct p.n.) and either dual brake rod system...either one will work just fine for you.

Let me know if I have forgotten anything and I hope that this information is helpful.

It looks as if you will need the brake bias adjustor and two bolts, nuts and c clips that attach the two master cylinders at the frame. That is all I can think of at the moment.

I assume you have the wheels to attach to the hubs that are pictured.

i do have the gold/yellow magnesium wheels that will fit, would i need to adjust camber/caster/toe again? can you send me a list of the part numbers i would need to be track legal. thanks

You will need to re-set the toe...2mm toe out is our suggested starting point. While you are at it you might as well check the camber. 0 to 3mm negative is a good place to start.

i just installed the spindles with brakes, the spindles have 2 mounting points, one gives me a slight toe in, and the other gives me a much more drastic toe out than i had before, which should i go with. could i have my kart set for caster/camber/toe at a local birel dealer near miami,fl or would i have to buy the tools and attempt it myself, also i get a funny pop noise when i roll the kart back or forth about 2-5 ft, any ideas?

Hi Doc,

I would certainly recommend you take it to a local dealer, RYSA Racing perhaps, in Miami and have then set your toe, sweep, castor and camber.

As far as the pop noise, it sounds like it could be a bad bearing - or a rock or dirt in a bearing. See if it is coming from a bearing. Do you have an external water pump on it that is axle driven? It could be that also.
