I was wondering if there are any advantages to using the brake "cable" supplied by Birel, or having a solid brake "rod", and what is the proper way to route the "safety cable" supplied for the supplied brake cable. Also, if anyone has a starting set up/gearing for Badger in Yamaha Jr SSX Can, we are using a 11 tooth front driver on a KT100, 305lb weight class, R30 C-Y chassis.

Personally,I like the Cable. I am assured that the pedal is released when there's a little "Sag" in it. With a solid rod, there's a possibility of brake drag.

When my Grandaughter got her Sportsman Yamaha AR-28, we had to put the youth pedal setup on it. There wasn't a cable short enough, so I made a die, and fitting for the end of the cable, and swedged it into place, just like the factory. It's still in place. (Wish she would grow a bit.)

When routing the Safety Cable there's really no way to make it fool proof. The part the cable goes thru can separate from the arm. My best plan, so far, is to route the cable under the fitting on the top of the arm. Then go above the fitting, outside the arm, and clamp it into place together. Haven't had a failure yet. Knock wood!!

Good luck Lance
