What do you all think of my project starting next week...

I am getting a used but straight and strong Birel frame for 200 bucks. Not sure of the age or model yet, But i'm getting it from my good friends down at Cambrian Go Karts in San Jose. To power it, will be a Kawasaki Ninja 600 streetbike engine with approximately 105 HP. I will have to hack the frame up, push the rear end back and mount the Engine behind the seat.

Anyone seen a Birel Shifter with this kind of power? Anyone here done it?

I will be posting pictures throughout the course of my project, hopefully some of you will enjoy it!

Sounds like a very ambitious project. Do a youtube search for gixxer kart.... It will give you some idea of the power that will be.

What do you plan on doing with the kart?

Yeah I have seen that video. I honestly have no idea what I'm going to do with it. I was going to drive it around in a parking lot and take it infineon raceway sometime. I'm just a speed guru. I saw the gixxerkart video and said I gotta get one. I'm 17 and don't have a full time job, so this is an awesome weekend toy :)

Have you ever driven a TaG or shifter kart before? I'm guessing you haven't because if you had, you would probably be perfectly happy with the power they offer. If I were you I'd start there before hacking up a perfectly straight chassis.

Good luck with getting Infineon to let you on the track.
