Michiana Raceway Park will host the first MRP Club Race and Rotax Max Challenge on April 26th, 2009. We attempt to race every other weekend for club racing. Once the national schedules for Man Cup and Stars are posted we can fill in the rest of the club and regional race programs for Michiana.

Are there plans of doing any two race weekends at this point?? If you decide to go that route it would be nice to know when they will fall when the schedule is released. I'd love to participate in both events on a weekend but I need to know far enough in advance to be able to shuffle my work schedule. thank you.

Thanks for asking Jody. It is a good question. At this point all we can do is state the first race of the season. I am waiting the decision of three different regional programs plus at least one national venue to discuss potential dates with us.

The double race weekends would fall around Memorial day, 4th of July and Labor day. I hae never been a big fan of double race weekends, because we always loose 1/3 of the entries from one day to the next. This year it worked out just because of the way the holidays fell into line.

We are frozen in our scheduling until we finalize the other schedules. This insure maximum coverage for our local customers to have support from the MRP staff at our local races. The next 40 days should clear everything up. We will announce just as soon as it all comes together.

Great question. We intend on opening the last weekend of April. WKA Man Cup will be at MRP in the first weekend of May.

I have waited for many of the regionals to produce their schedules. We now know that Great Lakes is scheduled to be with us in April. No other regional programs are scheduled. I will attempt to have a schedule up by Saturday a.m. Thanks for asking.

We hope to see you in the new year.
Garry

Hi Garry,

If possible, would like to see at least one race day before or after the GLSS race that you are planning before the ManCup.

My son is moving up a class and even though we ran him one race there at the end of the year in his new class, I would like to see him get some more seat time before the ManCup event.

Thanks,

WE have a club race planned the week after Great Lakes and the weekend before the Man cup event.

In the past we have had unpleasant experiences in two of the five years that we operated the property. One was a complete snow out and another produced freezing cold rain. I always was a big proponent of the start of an early season. The date we selected is the earliest that I wish to attempt this year.

I would highly recommend a private one on one with our advanced race group. I have several drivers who started racing, then attended one of our schools prior to the Great Lakes event and have turned out to be top ranked drivers inthe nation. This to me will be far more meaningful than just driving and tesing on a race weekend. Please call to discuss.

Bill,

If you have questions about Driver Training at MRP - feel free to contact me at anytime.... JSMyersSr@aol.com What success my son has had, is thanks to staff at MRP and their training program.

You'll find that driver training is better than a set of new tires, and training last a lot longer...

I know that most schools' Spring break is immediately preceding the GLSS race in April - that would be a good chance to get some seat time. Get your reservations in early - I suspect that'll be a busy week at the track!

As you know, Leslie, Sandi and I just love the 2 race weekends. It gives everyone a chance to be together after Saturday's racing. MRP is truly a "family" and it's nice to relax and be social with everyone without running around the pits, adjusting the cart, etc. We think this is just as important as giving each other tech tips, parts, etc.

We hope that after you have the information from all the other racing schedules, the 2009 MRP schedule includes several back-to-back racing weekends. You know we'll be there!!

The double race weekend is in active consideration. It takes a special combination in order to make that happen. I'll ask Rick Hall to post the proposed club schedule that we just completed yesterday. I'll look for feedback at the banquet on Saturday. Thanks for the idea.

Well I just copied and pasted the schedule in it's own thread maybe Marc could make it a sticky to replace the 2008 one? If there are any changes he can go into my post and alter it being a moderator. Thanks Garry.

There was talk of at least one event at RGR this season. Any date(s) being discussed yet?

Garry Lobaugh
04-08-2009, 10:50 AM
Thanks for the reminder Rick. I am trying to line up the Jr. Parents and interested drivers to put on our annual event at Rolling Green. I thought it might be better to wait until the first club race to discuss.

A date in July would be good for most I assume. It would be on a Saturday. Any thoughts?

It looks like the MRP plate is rather full. Two dates that might work would be July 11th or August 15th.

RGR is available for testing at any time correct? Maybe a few of us could get together at RGR during the MRP WKA and ROTAX weekends.

Garry Lobaugh

Yes, RGR is open for testing. For sure I think you have a good idea on the testing during the big events. We will try to organize a campaign for this project. Great idea and thanks for sharing.
