Need some help...Birel C28...new guy starting from scratch!

Hello everyone...

Im new to the site, new to kart racing, and in need of some help.

My son age 8 wants to race karts!

Where do I start?

Im looking at a Birel c28...some referred this model to me

Where do i buy?

Do I buy new?

Can I buy used?

What motor do I use?

How do I find a track in my area?
Im stationed in N.Carolina

How do I find a league/series in the general area to join?

Oh yeah... does it matter if I buy a 2004 frame/roller or newer.

Is there a cutoff on the year frame or cart used?

The main point is to attempt to find a good dealer near by. Max Pappis is our dealer in North Carolina.
The C28 is very successful.
Used is o.k.
There are a few good used ones around, just make sure you get one that is straight and that has been taken care of.

I'll try to get Max to email you back with his details so the two of you can hookup. He has a good used one that his nephew raced very successfully in the Florida Winter Tour.

Rick, it is good that you are concerned about mutual dealer relationships. Max emailed me via Blackberry (last night) that he was out of email range. Max as we all know is testing for one of the big teams as well as driving Nascar. I'm sure he appreciates your follow up and asistance Rick.

The primary concern of Max and Birel is customer support and assistance. Maybe the three of you can work together. As we all know the great Lake Speed is often at the track as well. I'm sure there is no issue with Max. Thanks for the follow up and your concerns.

I didnt get a hold of Max... so I googled Birel c28 for sale ...everyday! and found someone that is selling one in the Virginia area...

So headed out there this weekend to check it out

We have a handful of C28's that we do our "Test Drive" program with at BeaveRun each week. Like Rick said - not crossing dealer borders, just offering to help out. If you want to try one out before you buy from Max, shoot us a note and we'll get you scheduled in. We are probably a 6-7 hour drive from NC? Our Test Drives are $100/hour with instruction and all the equipment.

All of our C28s are set up with Comer K80s, not Mini-Max. Maybe sometime soon we'll set up a Mini-Max as well but we don't run one currently.

I have been helping out my Technical director in Hendrick Motorsport who has a 5 years old kid, in order to get them started on the right foot.
Karting is great but need to be done properly to have fun .
I currently owe Max Papis Racing that is a Karting team with a support from Birel as of my pasts with them in my Karting days and we have a very strong relationship with MRP as well.
Used Chassis are fine if they are in real good shape, the most important thing is getting all the proper spares to change set ups as needed.

I Just moved, so Im getting unpacked, and at the same time getting my car ready for the GT Live Time Attack races ( http://www.gtlivetour.com/ ) coming in a few weeks.

So if I make the trip it will be after October 6th.
