Been struggling with a loose off R30Y in TAG (Easykart motor, 350lbs, YHC's). Width is 54.5", 2 to 2-1/2 spacers up front, 12 psi all round, seat just above the bottom rails, tight rear bumper, std hubs (med.), Freeline fiberglass seat, additional strut on left side only, tried loose and tight 3rd bearing, floor pan is loose, 1mm toe out.

Just can't seem to get the power down and keep the rear planted well enough. Now don't get me wrong we are quick and the results prove it, but we'd be better if we can cure this loose off situation.

Thanks!

Karl,

What axle do you have in? Does it feel like a flat slide on exit or do you feel it is completely caused from putting the power down (like the wheels break loose)?

Have you tried longer hubs yet? What wheels are you running? Freeline Mags?

Marc,

It's at power on the rear kicks loose. Rear axle is a 1040 3mm "M" stock Easykart axle with cast aluminum Freeline wheels.

We have not tried the longer hubs yet, was trying to stay within what adjustments were available on the kart. I'll give it a try. What are you thinking on the axle?

Karl, in all due respect, when I have a customer make this comment and then they come to drive at our track, I have often found that changing the braking point and in turn getting on the gas sooner will eliminate this issue. Without seeing you drive, that would be my on track quick fix solution. Brake earlier in order to get on the gas sooner and you will get the desired planting of the rear with a higher exit speed. Just give it a try with your normal style for three laps, then experiment with this idea. If you have an on board data system, the mph on exit would be another measurement to tell if this suggestion is successful.

Garry,

Are you saying that he may be entering the corner too quick and thus at the edge of adhesion when he get's back in the power, causing the loose off? So we should enter slower, settle the kart and get back to the power after the kart has set....right?

Let's say we try this and we slow down, what next?

On a high speed corner back the breaking zone off by about 5 feet and then get on the gas sooner than normal. You can drive as hard into the corner but just brake sooner. The temptation of drivers who have not been through our racing school is to drive hard and deep, thinking that method is the fast way around the track.

In a hairpin corner, back the braking zone up by ten feet..Once again, without watching the kart and driver and more importantly the feet it is difficult to suggest via the forum.
