If anyone is interested in Ryan Stewarts set up that we used during the WKA Grands in Dousman, WI here it is...
We tested various combinations of things through friday and saruday and by Sunday we clearly had the best kart in HPV Heavy. I feel that if we would have tried this set up on Saturday we would have had a shot at HPV light as well. We were not as good in Yamaha Light and Heavy yet we ended up with a 2nd and 3rd respectivley...but there is definitely more there.

ZX32A chassis, 2 bearing 1000x50x2-M, 100 hub right side, 85mm hub left side, rear track at 54" with standard Freeline Magnesium wheels. Tillet T11 seat, 60 and 61.5, 21.5, and bottom of the seat flush with bottom of the frame rails. One seat stay each side all of the bolts tight. Hard front bar (I took a 1040x30x2.5 axle out of the trash and made a torsion bar out of it), spindles in the middle, 1.5 degree caster in, 2mm positive camber and 2mm toe out, 100mm front hubs all the way in.

The condition of the track was quite sticky and if you have never been to Dousman it is a fairly smooth, fairly narrow, very tight course with 11 turns and the straight is not really all that straight. We struggled a bit with a hop on the exit of "the boot" and the harder we went with the axle the better. I tried an extra seat stay on the left side which helped the hop but also slowed it down. I was tempted to test the side rail, but, I think in the end it would have created a push in the hairpins. I hope this helps...Also we ran a similar set up in SR. Sportsman Heavy on an RX30 with virtually no practice and were also very quick. If I could do it over again I would have ran an M axle and no seat stays in the sportsman and I know that it would have been even better.

ZX32A chassis

Chris,

Why did he run a Monza instead of a Birel?

Chris,

Is that pretty close to the RX set-up as well? We had three RX's running in Junior Can and HPV and they struggled a bit. I'd like to be able to compare where you guys ended up nect to where they did. Maybe that will help us dial in some of the issues.

Thanks for the info on the Z32 though, very helpful!

No particular reason at all except to help promote the Monza brand in WKA Manufacturers Cup competition. As I mentioned in the original post he also ran a RX30 in Sr. Sportsman Heavy which is a Birel.

I would say that the set up we ran with Ryan would transfer to the RX30 except that the Monza ZX32 does not have a rear ride height adjustment. Depending on the driver you might run either up or down, but, I would say with an M axle you run with the axle up and the rear of the kart down.

One other point must be made here: A "Monza" is a Birel. Manufactured, packaged, and distributed out of the same factory where all of the other red karts are made. The
ZX32A chassis is exactly the same shape as a CR832 which was produced in late 1997-1998. The Monza line offers a quality product at a slightly lower price due to a lack of advertising bugdet and official race team. The newer vesion of the ZX32 is called ZY32 and has an updated bearing cassette and cassette hanger which allows for an adjustable rear ride height. It does not have an updated front end with top and bottom load caster/camber adjustments or the dual front bar system but is a very versatile chassis nontheless. I hope this clears up any misconceptions about the Monza line.
