How tight or free should the axle bearing be in the cassette on our AR8z ? It seems to me if these were tight and not lubricated , that there would be binding when the chasis flexes , and in effect , the axle would be serving as a torsion bar.

meant to say AR28z but I suspect the answer would be the same on all models.
Thanks

The tech guys are out for the Stars race. I can't promise that I have the right answer for you. But I will get on it as soon as I can.

Thanks for the response Chuck. I was fairly certain that would be the case , but wanted to verify before lapping the cassette. What type of lubricant or anti-sieze would you suggest using on these , and would you advise using axle collars in lieu of clamping the bearing itself to the axle ? Could I just clamp one bearing to the axle w the set screws in the bearing and use the collars as safeties? I'm new to this sport but realize the need for everything to run freely w.o. binding , just not sure how to accomplish it. Really look forward to , and appreciate advice from you guys.
Thanks again

The problem you face and will face in the future is that the cassette is a machined piece and will always be the same(from the same source) the bearings will very in outside diameter even from the same source. The ID is always the same but the OD will very even each batch of bearings that are made. Arsenal's answer is correct, the next bearing you get may even fit loose compared to what you have now. Good luck.
