This is a call out to all fellow Rotax Mini Max competitors......
It has been suggested that a Mini Max class could be added to The Great Lakes Sprint Series. (non-points race)
Hanna and I are all in.
If you are a regular at MRP or you know of anyone who may want to put on a Mini Max show at the Great Lakes Sprint Series May 23 to May 25 , please show your support by contacting Jeff Myers Sr or the MRP staff today. We need karts to make this happen.
This would be great exposure for the Rotax series and a chance for the kids to take part in an awesome event.
Let's go racing!

Rick,
Thanks for the post! Was good to meet you this weekend - you have a great program going....
As I mentioned at the drivers meeting, the GLSS race Memorial Day weekend is an excellant opportunity for MRP club members to show their stuff to the WKA regulars, especially with the Rotax series. A lot of WKA racers may not have ever seen a Rotax kart..... We'd definitely like to get an extra class (or two???) on the schedule. I know Garry and GLSS board members will be talking over the next week. So MRP racers - make it known that you'll race! Jeff Jr. WILL race mini-max at GLSS provided we can get a few more entries...
I'd also encourage those MRP racers in WKA classes to come out and show them who's boss on the home track. I think everyone knows that MRP runs the national track in 2 weeks, the same layout GLSS will run Memorial Day weekend.... Great chance to get that kart fine tuned!
Thanks for a great race weekend and see everyone soon....

Cleared the schedule so Sarah can compete. She got really excited about it yesterday....I wonder why?
I just need to know what day (Sat/Sun) that the race will be on so we can plan accordingly....
Thanks.

Does anyone have an email address or contact info for the guys from Chicago Indoor Racing,
It would be great to have all of them there for the GLSS mini max race.
If anyone has the information could you make sure the information gets to Tony and the guys.
Glad to see Sara is going to make it. Great job this weekend Sara!

I just got off the phone with Tony Stewart of CIR>
Toby and Cody are both in for the minimax at Great Lakes. Tony is sending out a team newsletter right now to determine who else can make the event.
Please pass the word along. Thank you

Guys,
Sounds like we have 6 committed drivers/teams so far - any others??? Working out race details with MRP and GLSS... Mini-max race will really need to be on Sunday so as not to conflict with Cadet and Yamaha sportsman classes on Sunday.... HPV is only sportsman class Sunday....
PLEASE sound off if you can - I thing this will be a lot of FUN and an opportunity for racers to try the Rotax series with MRP arrive and drive special pricing while Rotax regulars strut their stuff.... Appears like we could have special awards/trophies (independant of GLSS)
Really need to have committed entries by Monday, May 12... I will work with GLSS to confirm entry fees (pre-entries usually due 2 weeks prior)... once I have an idea of numbers, can commit to adding it to GLSS program - race day entries would be a bonus!
Am itching to get an official release out - this will be a FUN event!

Jeff
There have been several emails going around tonight.
Tony Stewart from Chicago Indoor Racing has identified at least 8 and I believe Brent may have 2 more.
Garry. Tim and Brent have been copied on all of the emails if you want to follow up with them for a list.

I am hoping to have something officially announced very shortly..... Rotax rules/tech would apply...
There is open practice by class/group on Friday before the weekend. Mini-max would race on Sunday... There will be 2 practice sessions on Sunday, Qualifying, Pre-Final, Final. It appears there will be trophies awarded to the top 3 finishers. This is a non-MRP points race, non-GLSS points race.
Pre-entries are due by May 9. However, due to the lateness of mini-max being added to the program, I've asked the board to extend the pre-entries, for this class only until May 14 (I expect confirmation from the board that this is ok shortly).... Pre-entry is $45, Race Day entry is $55.... save $10 by pre-entering...
Other final details being worked out - please stay tuned to the MRP forum as I will provide a post immediately as this becomes official..... as far as GLSS is concerned, there are enough commitments to add the class to the program...
I have the following committed drivers:
Hanna Zellers
Jeff Myers Jr.
Tristian Van Wieringen
Sarah Carmon
Toby Stewart
Cody Powers
Know Brent has been in contact with other folks - but these are who I know about right now.... I was flooded with positive inquires on Monday. I've had others email me to indicate interest but no committment - yet. I've also rec'd inquiries about arrive and drive - is possible there may be a few race-day entries!
I've heard of some interest in a Jr. Rotax class, but not sure there's enough to form a class....
Thanks, Jeff

The race is on!
Both Jr. Rotax and Mini-max will race with WKA classes on Memorial Day Weekend.... Open Practice on Friday, May 23. Please get your pre-entries in the mail - really need to have them by May 14. Weekend entries are also fine if you'd like to wait, but they are $10 more.... MRP will award trophies to the top 3 finishers in each class....
Info is located at: http://www.glsseries.com/
Race details will be worked out this weekend at MRP.... This should be a fun event....
Reminder that GLSS also offers a Kid Kart class - this is great chance for the Kid Karts to race against some new racers....

Jeff
I assume we can sign up for Jr Sportsman and Mini Max at the track since we are getting in late?
What days will the 2 classes run?
Also do they allow 3 digit numbers?
Can't wait should be good fun.
Thanks

Sorry 1 more question.
What track will be run?

Rick Z. Regarding the sign up, no problem you can sign up at the track for your classes.
In terms of what days, just double check the web site that Jeff mentioned in the above email.
Track A, the national track is the configuration that our club race is this weekend and will also be the Great Lakes choice. It is customary for the local track to run the same layout the week prior to the regional or national event.
We are expecting one of the best Rotax turnouts for the season at the Great Lakes race. This will be for the Mini Max and Jr. classes only. Mojo tires, MS 93 fuel and Rotax rules will govern the event. MRP will provide the post tech inspection.

Thanks for the posts...
Race day entries are always welcome - can register on Friday afternoon of GLSS weekend... I'll do the best I can to track down info for this weekend's club race... Expecting a few teams to visit and race with MRP this weekend on the national track....
Garry - any arrive and drives left for jr. rotax or mini-max GLSS weekend?

Rick,
Jr. Sportsman Yamaha runs on Saturday
Cadet runs on Saturday
Jr. Sportsman HPV runs on Sunday
Mini-Max will run on Sunday
There is separation between classes so that drivers can compete in 2 classes each day - Race Director will clarify class order on race day...

all scoring will be by transponder - not sure the 3 digit number will matter - rotax is local track option.... please confirm at registration... know WKA likes 2 digits - easier to read if transponder fails....
i'm still getting emails/inquiries about rotax - this should be a FUN event - looking forward to a good turnout....
fees: to clarify entry fee, local track option, mini-max, jr. rotax will be $45 regardless if pre-entered OR raceday.... temp. GLSS of $5 and tmp WKA of $5 still required... those entering WKA classes, $55 on raceday.... pre-entry is closed - don't send pre-entries now, wait until race weekend... registration for the weekend available on friday afternoon, first thing saturday morning, first thing sunday morning... i believe gates open at 7 a.m. (garry can confirm)
friday is practice day run by MRP - practice usually by group/class....
karts will need to be pre-teched prior to racing saturday/sunday.... pre-tech on friday late afternoon, sat. morning, sun morning....
will do my best to answer questions over the weekend and at the drivers meeting on sunday....
see everyone this weekend - expecting a good turnout for the club race....
