MICHIANA RACING BULLETIN - April 22, 2008
THE TIME IS HERE! The first MRP Club race at Michiana Raceway Park will be this Sunday, April 27th. If the weather cooperates we expect a great turn out. Many new families have been visiting the property in preparation for this opening weekend. This past Saturday night had new faces show up for our our Kid Kart Mania that is hosted from 5-7 pm on alternating Saturdays.
This Sunday's event is planned to be finished by 4:00pm so everyone can get home at a decent time. We are offering a complimentary pre-tech as well. Please make sure your karts are in a well prepared and safe condition.
KID KARTS: Practice for kid karts starts at 11:15 on Sunday with the race to begin around 1 pm between qualifying and the pre final event.
REMINDER: Since we have so many new people this year we would like to remind everyone of the following instructions:
- On practice day (Friday or Saturday) please enter through the first gate(west Gate off Kline Trail). Sunday mornings racer access is through the East Gate from 8 AM till 10 AM. Please remember Practice starts at 9:15 AM All motors should be quiet until 9 a.m.
- Take time out to give your drivers an instruction refresher as to how we operate the property. The entry to the track is off the pre-grid area where all karts should be taken off their kart stands and lowered to their starting position. As you leave the pre grid, please hug the right side of the track entrance so as to give ample room to any oncoming traffic that might be attempting to make the first corner.
- MRP is the only authorized company to do race schools or driver coaching on the property. If you have questions or special needs please contact Rick Hall to get proper clarification. 574-288-4922.
- I would urge parents to work with their drivers in the inner circle if you are attempting to make changes or want to get more drive time without having to come off the track to make minor adjustments. We do not want to have customers wandering around out in the infield while drivers are practing. The track exit area is off the Monza and we once again remind drivers to raise your hands and wave them high so those behind you know that you are coming off the track.
- PLEASE Do not drive in the pits
- It has been a tradition in almost all race properties that there is no driving to be done in the pits. This includes clutch testing. The proper procedure to test a clutch is to work in the pre-grid area, out of harms way. Each year we have many new guests and potential karters visiting. We want to avoid the potential of driving into or over some unsuspecting new person.
- As a driver exits off the track, stop at the stop sign and push the kart back to the pit. For some parents, it might be easier to purchase a tow rope and hook to pull the kart back to their pit area.
- You do not need a membership to race
MEMBERSHIP HAS IT'S PRIVILEDGES:
If you do become a member of the MRP Club, this will entitle you to the season awards, a discount on weekly race fees and the opportunity to earn track record recognition.
Track records: This year will provide the opportunity to start all over for the Rotax track records. Since we have a new tire (D2) and the tires are a tick faster than the YHC’, new records will be made this week. Track B is on the schedule for this race date and that will be the track configuration for practice for the balance of this week and for the weekend.
Fuel is available at the track in 5 gallon plastic pales or in bulk from a VP drum.
ROTAX TIPS:
Rotax drivers, make sure your batteries have a fresh charge and distilled water. No addititives are allowed other than plain water for the radiators. Bruce Woodrow will be emailing the current Rotax information for those of you who wish to receive his updates.

This sponsorship helps to fund our awards ceremony at the end of the season and helps give back to the racers at Michiana Raceway Park. We have several sponsor packages available that are affordable. Please contact us if you are interested by emailing rickhallmrp@aol.com.
DON'T FORGET ABOUT FREE SCHOOLS AND LEAGUES!
If you aren't taking advantage of the FREE Tuesday night schools or the Thursday MRP Racing Leagues - then what is stopping you?!?!
