got a cadet in the mail today, but it didn't have an instruction book. i could figure out most of it, but there's a few nuts and bolts that have me confused. also, i'd love a picture of how the pipe bracket parts fit together. is there anything online? btw, the cadet is sweet. it's a c28 and i'm setting it up for micromax.

I would suggest finding the link to the catalog. Under the rear bumpe section is the graphics on the assembly.
If we get time in the shop, we will try to take a photo of what it looks like with our assembly process. I would say the parts that come with the C28 would not have all of the right pieces for the rotax exhaust system. Who is your dealer and I'll make sure we get help for you.

i got it from arsenal, but they are in FL and i'm in GA, so i'm putting it together myself.

Was the kart completely unassembled?

One of our engineering staff, Tim Lobaugh provided these guidelines:
Make sure you have an F axle (1040mm) in it.
Start with the front torsion bar out
Kart should have come with the small hubs (30x35mm), start flush at end of axle. What wheels do you have?
Start with zero pills top and bottom, spindle in the middle, 2 of the 6 spacers on the inside of each front spindle if you are using bearing mount wheels (no hubs).
Seat measurements depend on seat, seat size and Angus's height & weight.
Feel free to ask specific questions.

i got pix of the rear bumper and that helped me a ton, but my last problem is how do i get the bolt to stay in the rear frame tubes? i'm guessing that i assemble each side and tighten down a bit to expand the black rubber piece then tap the expanded rubber piece into the tubing. sound right?

That sounds correct. Make sure the HEAD of the bolt is the side inside the frame rail. Get it as snug as possible so it still slides into the frame rail and you can tighten the nut until it is snug inside. That is how we do it.

chuck, no, but his dad has helped me, and i got rick at raceway to help me get the rotax going and the micromax stuff installed. i got it together and it's running great. the local track record is 25.627, and this week angus ran a 25.65 on a track that was slower than normal. i could tell this by his comer cadet kart. angus is hoping to break that track record at the race this weekend on his birel. he'll really be fast once i learn how to tune better.

Anything you can do to get Rick on board the Birel program will be greatly appreciated. He is fearful of handling another brand for fear of losing his Rotax dealership.
Good luck this weekend.

gary, he's been very interested seeing the birel run and has told me about his possibility of carrying the line. everyone at the track has been checking this sweet kart out, and once we set the track record this weekend, it's going to look even better!

didn't set record this weekend, record - 25.627, angus' best - 25.655 ... next time. angus did set this year's record in cadet, but it was quickly broken by bailey harper (brent harper's son) as they had a great battle. angus - 26.309, bailey - 26.299. good day of racing.

Thanks for the update. It is a good report. Here is a question: At our local club MRP Championship series, we only allow track records to be recorded in the three time laps for time trials. Are your track records established during the race day and monitored on each lap?
2nd: time is on your side. Why do I say that? Even though you are racing in the south with warm weather, the tracks have not fully heated up yet. Good track stick is going to assist in faster times.
Then, we are going to get to a point of which we have too much stick, say August. Poor air quality, vs too much stick and your times will go down. But here is the counter balance, your driver keeps learning, he keeps improving his drive style and stamina and you get better as a crew chief. Then comes the combo of the perfect storm. Cool fall temps return, yet the track is hot and sticky and the driver is in great shape. What a perfect match as the cool fall air makes for a better carb performance and you will blow the track record away!
Keep up the good work guys and thanks for your reporting in. We are going to be announcing a special summer camp for racers and tuners. Hope you can take time out of your busy schedule to join in. We have a terrific class of 11 mini max drivers running at the club events.

they wear a transponder and every lap is recorded and then posted on mylaps.com we're new, but as far as i've figured out, every lap on race day can count. i know what you mean about the fall. i've researched back and all the previous good lap times were done October-ish. i bought a tony kart cadet as our first kart back in december, and if i can sell it, i want to get another birel cadet for the comer class. we're really enjoying the kart, and i'm figuring out that tuning is easier on it, as slight changes actually show up in lap times.

To clarify:
Some clubs use track records only on qualifying. this is important as usually drivers are spaced apart in order to avoid team efforts to draft and improve their times. While being fast is important, leading that last lap is more important. Good luck and keep up the good work. We'd love to see you come up for our double race weekend on July 5,6th at our property. I can guarantee 10-12 mini max drivers. We have a cookout scheduled and our weather is cooler than Georgia at that time of year! ha ha.
