just found this site, and it has tons of useful info for me. we are new to karting. we started a few months ago and bought a Tonykart cadet and put a cadet motor on it. my son looks pretty good in it, so i ordered a birel cadet and a micromax motor, as we're going to try and take this racing serious. we raced motocross for 5 years very seriously, but he retired at age 9 due to so many injuries. he did well and was a factory rider. we hope he does as well at karting.
i decided on a birel because of all the wins the kart has. also, because since he already has a Tonykart, i thought i could speed up my learning process dialing in 2 different karts and comparing the 2. any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. we've had some driving lessons, and alot of help setting up our present kart.

Sure thing Angus Dad... but to get the best answers - you will have to ask a question :)

What would you like to know? I see you are from Georgia, where will you be racing?

we will race locally at barnesville, and travel to the montecello and 103 track in FL this year. we plan on racing the FWT next year, and some WKA events, then moving up to the stars races asap. we also plan on racing the rotax races.
we have a Tony kart cadet chassis that i bought new about 3 months ago. which class would the Birel be better for, cadet or micromax? right now we're using the Tony kart for cadet, but i can switch. after buying the Tonykart, i heard alot that the problem with the Tonykart is that it's stiff. we've done alot of adjustments, and softened the axle, and it's pretty free now. angus is new, but fast, just a tiny bit off the track record already. from motocross, he knows tons about apexing, momentum, and carrying speed, etc. he having to forget squaring off corners, and block passing, though.
with the new Birel, should i change the axle or add seat struts? our local track is a short (.6) curvy, technical track.

In terms of the latest C28 J Birel chassis-the B version is the latest. It works the best of any chassis in the market today for both the Comer Cadet category, the rookie 1 Kt 100 and dominates for two years in a row in the FWT Rotax max and Micro Max classes.

MRP offers summer camps for dads and kids to learn about the chassis set up and advanced driving programs. Please call Brent at 574 288 4922 to discuss potential options. Our next race school program will be on April 24,25,26 with a Mini Max Rotax race on the April 27.
