We are often asked this question "What is the baseline for my 32 mm Birel chassis". I went back and copied out of my secret book "Chris's Gems" This is a posting in the archives that you might not have found and here is a reprint for you at this time:

Seat Placement: measure form the front rail where the drivers heel would rest to the front lip of the seat pm the left side 58.5-59cm, right side 59.-60cm. Top of the axle to the top of the back of the seat 23cm. Bottom of the seat flush with the bottom of the frame rails to begin with and then you can lower it as needed. This is just a baseline starting position…what tires are you on? Harder tires (YGK, YDS,) would need the seat to go further back and possibly up more. I always mount two seat struts per side during assembly and then remove as needed.

Rear track width 541/4 to 55” depending on conditions. Narrowing the rear track width will give you more grip, but, will also make the kart unstable. I

Front Track width probably one thick and one thin spacer if you are using the new spindle and truck hubs and then go out from there. I would start with .5 degree of caster in (the way it came out of the box) and then instead of taking the caster out try removing the front bar to slow the front end down. Also, with the new steering column, you will want to have the tied rods mount to the holes that are closer to the column.

Hope this helps,

Chris Lobaugh
